THE AMAZING STORY OF RÍOSUCIO IS CARNIVAL
In colonial
times did the feud between two villages: Quiebralomo Real de Minas, mulatto
population, one of the richest mining camps of America in the sixteenth century
by the Spanish managed to serve the king of Spain and The Mountain, village
Indian.
After a
century of confrontation and thanks to the intervention of two Catholic
priests, who threatened the inhabitants of the two villages with eternal
damnation to follow at war, ended up sharing territory, thus giving rise to the
current population of Ríosucio.
To seal the
peace pact between the two people, these were joined together in the
festivities of Kings in 1847. Soon, holding transmute Magi, as the guardian of
peace and who would always be to remind the word that gave to the priests, the
devil, a devil mestizo who drew on ancient African dances of the indigenous
ceremonial the sun and the earth, of the tradition of Europeans who came in
search of freedom and they saw in America, its paradise.
RIOSUCIO’S DEVIL CARNIVAL
The Devil
is Ríosucio cultural syncretism whose image contains some elements of
Judeo-Christian devil, but conceptually it is tied to the meaning of evil. The
Devil's Carnival is the custodian of the party. As clearly is described in texts
on Carnival's official website, the Devil riosuceño is:
An
inherited mood Aboriginal cultural tradition of the mixture of cultures and
races who lived the western part of what
is now called Caldas. It is an inspiring spirit of many things as preparing the
ears for music and body for dance. It is who inspires writers and poets to make
the verses and songs. [...] A symbol is a true reflection of the masquerade of
life. He stands as the central figure and then burn it ceremonially in playful
acts. [...] His figure changed with the passage of time and at no time is an
idol. He is in the heart of each riosuceño friendly to enable Carnival.
The
Republic's Carnival
Ríosucio’s
Carnival is an important cultural intangible heritage Colombia.
The
Carnival is governed by a sovereign government, composed of president, mayor
and officials, as authority that must be obeyed by locals and visitors. It is
responsible for issuing the decree promulgating laws peace, brotherhood and
joy.
Besides the
sovereign government, the Republic of the Carnival has one matachín, the
decrees maker, the barker, the flagship, the officers and leaders of youth and
children's gang, his main characters, when they party makers.
Ríosucio Carnival: Carnival longest Colombia
Ríosucio
Carnival has the distinction of being the longest party of Colombia and,
perhaps, the world, it starts in July with the Decree of the Republic
Installing Carnival and culminates in January, when the party comes to an end
with Testament farewell merrymaking is done with the Dungeon Burial and Burning
of the Devil, ending the spell of "cane juice" or chichi strong of cane
and accepting the end of the reign of the Devil ... until the next Carnival.
The
decrees, treat, entry of the devil, the gangs, the will is a succession of
events that make the Carnival a unique experience for the senses, a meeting of
streams of people coming together in the enjoyment of a cultural manifestation
highly aesthetic.
Crews
Crews sung
on Sunday are perhaps the most important activity in the Carnival. Unlike Rio
Carnival crews, who are on the street and have about 300 people, are Riosucio
camera, so they have about 12 people, adequate numbers for a living house.
The
ingenuity, imagination, color and the luxury of the costumes make this campaign
a ceremony Sunday very special artistic, it is the result of two years of
preparation looking to keep alive the tradition of a town that lives and
vibrates to the beat devil its Carnival.
